Ground
Programs
The Ground Systems Division
of EFW Inc. has been very successful in developing state of the
art systems for combat and training applications for U.S. Army platforms
since 1993. First in developing Thru-Sight Video, a real time Live
Fire Training System for the M1and M2 family of vehicles. In 1995,
EFW Inc. was selected to develop VME Open Architecture with VxWorks
processors for the Bradley A3 program. The Ground Systems Business
Unit was then selected to develop the Gunner's and Commander's Handles
and a critical Position Interface Box (PIB) for the turret controller.
All these systems are currently in full rate production.
EFW Inc. has provided key
technologies for other platforms via horizontal technology insertion;
the Position Interface Box (PIB) for the Bradley A3 was selected
for the M2/3 A2 ODS version of the BFV. EFW Inc. designs for the
Gunners and Commanders handles were selected for the
AAAV platform. The processor design capabilities of the Ground Systems
group lead to selection for the FBCB2 Paladin Enhanced Display Unit,
and the Digitized Cell processor and display panel for the MLRS
M270A1 and HIMARS programs.
EFW Inc. has developed and
produced an adjunct system for TSV that provides real time audio
and video to the training and safety tower personnel during live
fire training. This Deployable Range Training Safety System (DRTSS)
is operational in several US Army range installations. To further
the training environment on live fire range, Ground Systems has
develop a system to integrate and train the new digital command
and control capabilities of the Force XXI with the Integrated Range
Operation Network (IRON).
